Ubisoft Warns PS5 Players of Save File Risks in Star Wars Outlaws Update

Players of Star Wars Outlaws on PS5 might lose their progress after installing the new update. Recent changes have led to concerns regarding saving files for some users.

Last night, Ubisoft reached out to specific PS5 players via email, necessitating the installation of the latest patch aimed at rectifying several bugs and incorporating a 40FPS mode that was missing in earlier copies of the game. However, they cautioned that Patch 1.000.002 could lead to saving files becoming corrupted, advising gamers to start anew to avoid progression problems.

The email stated that maintenance was implemented to ensure optimal gameplay in the Outer Rim so that everyone could access the most current game version. Players who had been using older iterations may encounter issues following this update, and Ubisoft extends its apologies for any resulting difficulties.

Players were encouraged to initiate a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as the developers intended. Continuing with a previous save could lead to frustrating progress impediments.

The open-world title from Massive Entertainment is available three days early for purchasers of the Gold Edition for $109.99 or the Ultimate Edition for $129.99. However, those impacted by the recent patch will need to restart their gaming journey despite investing many hours during the early access phase.

One user on Reddit expressed disappointment, noting that after spending several hours in the game, having to restart would significantly dampen their enthusiasm. Another voiced frustration over the costs incurred, feeling let down by the company for the situation.

In response, Ubisoft released another statement, providing further details and announcing compensation for the affected PS5 users. This includes a trinket for their ship and Ubisoft Connect Units. A spokesperson acknowledged the issue where some PS5 players were on an outdated game version and quickly addressed the situation to prevent complications, encouraging players to initiate a new save.

As a gesture of goodwill, they informed affected players that they would receive an in-game Trailblazer trinket along with 100 Ubisoft Connect Units to enhance their return to the Outer Rim.
