Like a Dragon Kiwami 3 Will “Definitely” be Made “Sooner or Later,” Series Director Says
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, renowned for revitalizing the Yakuza series through the acclaimed Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 remakes, has left fans in suspense regarding the possibility of a Yakuza Kiwami 3, especially since remasters of the series' third to fifth installments are already available. Despite this, the studio recently hinted at change, indicating a potential shift in their approach to remaking the beloved series. During the latest episode of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio TV, Masayoshi Yokoyama, the director of the Like a Dragon series, shared exciting news about upcoming auditions for a new game within the series. Although he confirmed that this new project would not be the anticipated Like a Dragon Kiwami 3, his following statements sparked interest.
Yokoyama suggested that while a remake of Yakuza 3, likely titled Like a Dragon Kiwami 3, is not immediately forthcoming, it remains a definite objective for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The timeline for this project remains unclear, but Yokoyama reassured fans that it is within the studio's future plans, hinting at its inevitability. "I strongly believe we will embark on Kiwami 3 at some juncture. It's something we're bound to do sooner or later," he mentioned, indirectly conveying the studio's commitment to continuing the series’ legacy.
Although specifics regarding when this anticipated project might launch are yet to be disclosed, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's dedication to maintaining a stream of Like a Dragon releases suggests that fans may not have to wait indefinitely.
