Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Developer is “Hard at Work on it,” Says Creative Director
Following the critical success of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for PS5, the development team at Square Enix has shifted its focus to the concluding part of the Remake trilogy. While details such as the release date or official title remain under wraps, fans were treated to a captivating 42-minute discussion featuring series composer Nobuo Uematsu, renowned for the Rebirth theme song "No Promises to Keep," scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, and creative director Tetsuya Nomura. During this engaging dialogue, the trio shed light on the journey of creating the trilogy.
In the conversation, Nomura expressed a sense of weariness and eagerness to conclude this extensive series of projects. He humorously broached the subject of Uematsu's continued involvement, hinting at a hope more than an outright request for Uematsu to craft the main theme for the trilogy's final chapter. Agreeing with a sense of honor, Uematsu seemed amenable to the idea, cementing what appeared to be an informal agreement between the two.
Moreover, Nomura shared that he and Nojima are diligently working on the upcoming game, playfully challenging Uematsu by noting the difficulty of surpassing the high standard already set by his previous compositions for the franchise.
Details on the final installment remain scarce. However, director Naoki Hamaguchi hinted at development progress, particularly on the script, and the significant efforts to "rebuild" the game's world to incorporate a controllable airship. This opens up exciting possibilities, such as exploring areas like Rocket Town—a location that was omitted from Rebirth to allow for a deeper exploration of the Gongaga region.
As anticipation builds for the yet-to-be-named last chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake saga, the development team's insights reveal a blend of nostalgia and forward-looking creativity, promising another groundbreaking addition to the storied FF7 universe.
